“Hunter S. Thompson was an American journalist and author, best known as the creator of Gonzo journalism, a style of reporting that blends fact, satire, and first-person narration. Thompson had a long and influential relationship with Rolling Stone magazine, where many of his most important works were originally published. Rolling Stone Issue No. 970 was released shortly after Thompson’s death in February 2005 and serves as the magazine’s official memorial issue. This rare hardbound presentation edition—distinguished by its custom faux snakeskin binding and gilt Gonzo insignia—was never commercially distributed and stands as a unique artifact of Rolling Stone’s institutional history and Thompson’s enduring cultural legacy.”
